The UIL Academic Team placed third at the district meet at SFASU yesterday.  This is a great showing for these students and sponsors.  Individual results are:
Katrina Branum: 3rd in Computer Applications (advancing to regionals)
Qualyn Stark: 6th in Current Events, 2nd in Feature Writing, Headline Writing, and News Writing (advancing to regionals)
Ilsa Ballew: 2nd in Editorial Writing (advancing to regionals)
Adam Elliot: 4th in Editorial Writing and 6th in Spelling and Vocabulary
Nykia Brown: 6th in Feature Writing
Adrian Washington: 6th in Literary Criticism
Bridgette Valdetero: 1st in Headline Writing
Olivia Moffett: 4th in News Writing and 6th in Ready Writing
The journalism team placed first in District!

Congratulations to Amber Osburn for placing fourth in the state powerlifting meet in Corpus Christi.

Mrs. Smith will represent the district at the Overton/New London Chamber of Commerce banquet as the OISD Teacher of the Year.

         OISD meets state accountability standards
Both campuses and the district as a whole received the Met Standards rating for the 2013-2014 school year.  Overton Elementary also received one Distinction Designation for Academic Achievement in Reading/ELA.
Congratulations to the students, teachers, parents, and administrators who made this possible!

  Overton ISD and both campuses received a rating of "Recognized" in the new Community and Student Engagement rating required by the Texas Education Agency.

 Overton ISD Statement of Nondiscrimination
