REGULAR BOARD MEETING MARCH 13 , 2007
The Overton ISD Board of Trustees met for a regular School Board meeting on Tuesday, March 13. The following items of business were transacted:The minutes of the previous meeting were approved
- The agenda for the meeting was certified
- Mrs. Maines presented the Elementary Principal’s report and Dr. Stretcher presented the Secondary Principal’s report.
- A motion was passed to obtain a study concerning the structural soundness of the old gymnasium building and if the gym is deemed structurally sound, bids will be solicited to repair the roof.
- Following a presentation from WRL construction about the progress of the building, a motion was passed to approve the submitted payment. WRL reported that the building was on schedule to be completed for the start of school.
- Based on information from the Region VII Service Center, the Board declared a financial exigency in the Head Start Program and determined that only one teacher would be employed in the Head Start program next year.
- A motion was made to revise the student handbooks to change the number of varsity cheerleaders from the current “eight cheerleaders” to “eight cheerleaders plus any additional candidates that score within ten points of the eighth cheerleader, with a maximum of ten total cheerleaders”. A revision was also made to the fee charged to retrieve a confiscated cell phone, changing it from $20 to $15.
- Resignations from Jesse Turney and Leigh Myers were accepted
- Professional Contracts were extended
