REGULAR BOARD MEETING DECEMBER 12 , 2006
The Overton ISD Board of Trustees met for a special meeting on Tuesday, January 9, 2007. The following items of business were transacted:
- The Board entered executive session to discuss the superintendent’s evaluation.
- The Board voted to extend the contract of Superintendent Mark Stretcher by one year. The superintendent’s contract now extends through June, 2011.
The Overton ISD Board of Trustees met for a regular monthly meeting on
Tuesday, January 9, 2007. The following items of business were transacted.
- The minutes of the December 12, 2006 meeting were approved.
- The agenda for the meeting was certified.
- The bills paid in December, 2006 were reviewed.
- Mrs. Maines presented the elementary principal’s report and Dr. Stretcher presented the secondary principal’s report.
- In honor of School Board Appreciation Month Student Council members Nikki Langley, Hannah Waggoner, Michael Lewis, Whitney Stretcher and J.D. Pieskee presented the school board members with a gift.
- The School Board members were also presented with a book for the elementary and high school libraries with their names in it.
- Dr. Stretcher reported that the Site Based Decision making Committee had met on Tuesday and that the main topic of discussion was the calendar for the 2007-2008 school year. Calendar options will be provided to the staff for their input.
- Dr. Stretcher gave an update on the school building project and a request for payment from WRL construction was approved.
- The Board discussed a process for selecting a new High School Principal. It was decided that the applicants would be screened and three candidates would be presented to the Board for interviews.
- The first reading of TASB Policy Update 79 was approved.
- An Eagle Scout project proposed by J.D. Pieskee was approved. The school will furnish the materials for the construction of picnic tables for the school.
- Dr. Stretcher provided the Board with a facilities update, it was reported that there are currently 533 students enrolled in school. Dr. Stretcher gave the Board student activity reports for both campuses, the finance report was given, the Board was updated on upcoming school activities, school board training opportunities and the most recent tax collection report.
