Bids for Ag Farm Expansion

McMillan Foundation Presentation  
 OISD Superintendent Stephen DuBose presents a certificate of appreciation to Rogers Pope, Sr., Trustee of the Bruce McMillan, Jr. Foundation.  The Foundation has been a long time supporter of Overton ISD and the Overton Community.  The Foundation has donated land for the Ag Farm, funds to build the McMillan Ag Building on campus, the building that houses the OISD administration offices, as well as financial support for the food services department and other donations too numerous to mention.

Click the link above to view photo updates of some of OISD's summer projects.  Many projects were approved for the summer, including new covered walkways, refreshing the MS gym floor, and re-paving all district roads and parking lots.
 
Overton ISD is selling the old cafeteria tables.  OISD will consider any reasonable offer to purchase any or all of the tables.  Please contact the superintendent's office to make an offer. 
 
Summer Hours at OISD Administration Offices
Overton ISD's Administration Offices, located at 111 East McKay Street, will be open from 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM Monday through Thursday during the months of June and July.   The Administration Office will be closed for the week of the 4th of July (July 3-7).  Regular office hours will resume on July 31.
 
 
State Band Theory Test 
Overton Mustang Band member Daniel Prater earned a 1 on his state theory test and Reagan Hunger earned a 2 to bring the total state medals won by the band this year to six, 5 first divisions and 1 second division.
 
 
 
State Band Competition
Congratulations to Jayden Bryant (twirling), Brandon Allison (tuba solo) and Tyler Freeman, Virginia Emmel, and Michael Croteau (trombone trio) for earning first divisions at the state competition.

Overton ISD Wins Prestigious Award
Overton ISD was presented the Billy Hibbs Safety Award from Claims Administrative Services for exemplary safety practices resulting in the lowest loss ratio in 2015-2016.  Along with the plaque the district receives a $500 scholarship for one of the graduating seniors.  The award was presented to OISD at the Texas Association of School Administrators Midwinter Conference in Austin.
 

Overton ISD and both campuses earned the Met Standard accountability rating by the Texas Education Agency.  Met Standard is the highest rating given by TEA.   

OHS RECOGNIZED BY US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT

Overton High School received a Bronze Medal Recognition from US News and World Report.  Please see the attached press release for further information.

Overton ISD Statement of Nondiscrimination 
It is the policy of Overton ISD to not discriminate or engage in harassment on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, disability, or any other legally protected status in its educational an dvocational programs, services or activities or matters related to employment as required by Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, as amended, and the SEction 504 of the Rehabilitation act of 1973 as amended.
This policy also prohibits retaliation against an individual who has made a good faith report of unlawful, discriminatory practices, opposed any unlawful, discriminatory practices or participated in an investigation of any complaint related to an unlawful, discriminatory practice.
